Sick Day Tea
I used to be a barista at Starbucks several years ago and LOVED making myself medicineball teas during my breaks on long, dark winter shifts (you get sick of the sugar and caffeine options real fast). I started making them at home and altered the recipe into something that is (in my opinion) WAY better than the original. This is my go-to drink when I’m feeling sick, gloomy, or sometimes even just on a gloomy cold winter morning. It’s hot and soothing on a sore throat, light and sweet, and pleasantly lemony. If you’re not really a tea drinker, I’d still recommend trying this.
Ingredients:
One teabag mint tea (they don’t sell the Teavana Jade Citrus Mint anymore :( so look for something with lemongrass and spearmint and ideally lemon verbena)
One teabag peach tea
2 tablespoons fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 1/2 tablespoons honey
8 ounces boiling water
Directions:
Pour your honey and lemon juice into the mug of your choice.
Pour 1/3 of the boiling water in as well, then mix with a small spoon until the honey is dissolved.
Add both teabags, and pour in the rest of the water.
Allow it to steep for a few minutes before removing your teabags and enjoying. Feel free to adjust the honey and lemon amounts for more or less sweet tea.
